As a Grandmother, you hurt big time when one of your Grandkids have a bad day… Especially on Her Birthday! Trust me I can be the Meanest, Baddest Granny around if you mess with the Grandbabies!!! So her birthday was going sooooo great, BUT then she got on the bus to go home (with the last piece of her cake which she was saving for her daddy) and a couple of BULLIES started in on her. Tried to take her cake and calling her names… you can imagine the scenario.! Upset doesn’t even explain how she was by the time she got home to her dad. After a bit of daddy lovin’, she calmed down and slowly got back into the Birthday Spirit that evening. Her father took care of the situation and hopefully no more incidents like this will happen again. BULLIES! Arrggggg! But that is another post.
So I had been planning a Granny and Shaela Day where we would attend The Lowe’s Build and Grow workshop in Siloam Springs, Arkansas. This event is carried out every other week at this Lowe’s store. I had no idea they did these workshops. Kids can build a little wooden project that they can take home.
All materials are free. They also get a work apron, and a project patch when completed along with a certificate. We had so much fun, even when “Granny” broke the lid on our box (they gave us another one). It was a fun, noisy event with all the pounding and giggles!
Rhonda Starr, Lowe’s Workshop Coordinator, stated the store has been doing this for quite a while. Workshops are scheduled every other week except at Christmas time when they are each week in order to make a three piece train set. Each workshop has it’s own theme and badge (which she said the badges are now iron on instead of sewn on). The next Build and Grow workshop is The Rumbling Roadster.
Although they plan for walkins it is advised to go online and reserve your kit to ensure your childs participation in the event. You can do that by clicking on the Lowe’s Build and grow pic above.
Following workshop, we finished off Granny and Shaela Day with a trip to the theatre to see Journey 2 (which is a must see). Then I dropped her off at her Mama’s house for a special dinner. A pretty good finish to her birthday week. Take that you darn ole bullies!
So… want to get something for you after you and the younguns hit the next workshop????
How about a $20 Lowe’s gift card.!!!!
